Chin Liposuction

Certain anatomical features of the face. This aesthetic problem does not response to conservative methods of correction (special exercises, massage, cosmetic products).

Chin liposuction is a cardinal way of local removal of adipose tissue. In aesthetic surgery clinic of the GRACE Centre, this surgical intervention has been shown to be effective as there have been no complications after it, the duration of the rehabilitation period has been minimal, and the results are amazing. Further proper care of the treated area and maintaining a stable weight will help to preserve the effect after the liposuction for a long time.

What is chin liposuction?
Chin liposuction ois performed in order to acquire a clear facial contours or to improve them. It includes removing excessive fat depositions through a small puncture of the skin with the help of special equipment.

Duration of operation: 30-90 minutes

Rehabilitation: 2-3 weeks

Our approach to chin liposuction:

  • Selection of the type of chin liposuction taking into account the physiological characteristics of a patient.
  • Increased attention to the safety of our patients.
  • Reduction of rehabilitation period 2-3 times in comparison with other clinics.

Indications for chin liposuction
Formation of the as called double chin that can be caused by the following reasons:

  • Age-related decrease of the skin elasticity.
  • Excessive skin in the lower part of the face.
  • Excessive fat depositions in the chin area.
  • Genetic predisposition.
  • The sagged cheeks and the folds in the lower part of the face.
  • Psychological discomfort due to the massive chin.

Advantages of chin liposuction
Stable result. After liposuction, the chin will remain tight for many years. This is the result the weight loss does not give. Liposuction is aimed at removing exactly the fat cells, that is, there is a decrease in of the fat deposits volume in the chin area while the other methods ensure the loss of fat but the not the decrease of the number of the fat cells.

The result after one procedure To give the chin the desired contour, one procedure is enough.

No scarring after the operation After the chin liposuction, there is only one small scar which is almost invisible on the skin.

Causes of the double chin formation
Genetic predisposition. The second chin can appear as a consequence of the body structure features (for example, an elongated neck).

Fat deposits. In the area of the chin and neck, the accumulation of fat occurs in the first place while it is burnt in the last turn.

Age. Over the years, the substances that are responsible for the skin elasticity, such as elastin and collagen, are destroyed that causes the soft tissues to sag under the influence of gravity. The age-related sagging of the skin by the type of turkey neck is caused by the same reason.

Endocrine profile. The increase in the fat layer of the chin is possible against the background of hormonal changes in pregnancy and menopause.

The thyroid gland diseases reduce the level of thyroid hormones leading to an increase in the size of the goitre and the front surface of the neck.

Body posture. If a patient is stooping and ducks her head while walking, then the circulation of blood in the neck worsens and fat is deposited on the chin.

Chin liposuction techniques

  • Classical technique. Removal of the fat in the chin area is performed through small incisions under the jaw and in the area of the ear lobes. The first stage is the introduction of a special substance that dissolves fat cells. After this, the fat is sucked using a cannula that is connected to the pump.
  • Ultrasound technique. Using the ultrasound or laser, the dense fatty tissue is fractured that facilitates the process of its pumping out of the chin area.
  • Combined technique. A combination of several methods is used when there is an induration of the fat deposits or a significantly excessive amount of fat cells.

At the end of the operation, the incisions must be rinsed with antiseptic substances. After cleansing, the cosmetic stitches are put or a compression cosmetic plaster is applied. The final stage is applying a correcting compression bandage.

Potential complications
The complications after liposuction include bleeding, wound suppuration, inflammation, fat embolism, and asymmetry. Dimples and uneven area may occur due to incomplete contraction of the skin or irregular cicatrization in the fatty tissue, etc.

However, the ten-year experience of the GRACE Centre doctors who use the high-quality technologies and medications and pay increased attention to safety minimise the likelihood of the above-mentioned risks at GRACE.

Detailed consultation is the key to a successful operation
The duration of the initial consultation at GRACE takes, on average, 40-50 minutes. This time is necessary to hear and understand as deeply as possible all the needs and desires of a patient. After the examination, we will discuss in detail a patient’s desires and whether, according to the surgeon’s opinion, the operation will satisfy them. During the consultation, we always strive to help our patients to create the correct expectation about the chin contouring results.
